1. Who we are

Afrishore Quant is a division of Afrishore BPO ("Afrishore", "we", "us", "our"). For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"), Afrishore acts as the Responsible Party when it collects and processes your personal information through this website and related communication channels.

Our contact details are set out in section 12 of this notice.

2. Scope of this notice

This Privacy Notice applies to personal information that Afrishore Quant collects when you:

• Visit or interact with the website at afrishorequant.com.
• Submit an enquiry through our client contact form.
• Register your interest as a contractor through our contractor form, including uploading a CV.
• Correspond with us by email, telephone, WhatsApp or any other channel.

3. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

• Identifying and contact details: full name, email address, telephone number, employer or organisation.
• Career and professional information (contractors): years of post-graduate experience, actuarial specialism, examination progress, earliest availability, and the contents of any CV or supporting documentation you upload.
• Communication preferences: preferred mode of communication (email, phone or WhatsApp) and language preferences.
• Enquiry information: the content of messages you send us, including any additional personal information you choose to share.
• Technical information: limited technical data such as browser type and referring page, collected automatically when you visit the website.

4. Purpose of processing

We process your personal information for the following purposes:

• To respond to your enquiry and communicate with you about our services.
• To assess contractor suitability, match contractors to available assignments and manage engagement lifecycles.
• To introduce contractors to prospective clients, including sharing profile summaries and CVs where relevant to a specific opportunity.
• To administer our contractual arrangements with clients and contractors.
• To comply with our legal, regulatory and tax obligations.
• To improve our services and the operation of this website.

5. Lawful basis for processing

We rely on one or more of the following lawful bases in POPIA to process your personal information:

• Your consent, provided when you submit a form or otherwise engage with us.
• The processing being necessary to conclude or perform a contract to which you are a party.
• Compliance with an obligation imposed by law.
• The pursuit of our legitimate interests, or those of a third party to whom the information is supplied, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.

6. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with the following categories of recipient, only where a specific purpose requires it:

• Prospective and confirmed clients of Afrishore Quant, where you are a contractor being considered or engaged for an assignment.
• Group companies within the Afrishore BPO group, for shared administrative, finance and IT functions.
• Trusted service providers who process personal information on our behalf, including our website host (Netlify), analytics providers (Google Analytics and PostHog, the latter hosted in the European Union), our email service and document storage providers. These providers act as Operators under POPIA and are bound by written agreements.
• Regulators, courts, or law enforcement, where we are legally required or permitted to disclose personal information.

7. Cross-border transfers

Because Afrishore Quant places South African contractors with international clients, personal information about contractors may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside South Africa, including the United Kingdom, European Union member states, the United States and other jurisdictions where our clients operate.

When we transfer personal information across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure that recipients are subject to laws, binding corporate rules, or contractual arrangements that provide a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, in line with section 72 of the Act.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this notice, or as required by law. Contractor records are typically retained for the duration of your active registration with us plus a reasonable period afterwards, so that we can consider you for future opportunities and meet our record-keeping obligations. Client enquiry records are retained for the duration of the client relationship and a reasonable period afterwards.

You may request deletion of your personal information at any time, subject to any overriding legal or contractual obligation we may have to retain it.

9. How we protect your information

We take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure the integrity and confidentiality of personal information in our possession, as required by section 19 of POPIA. These measures include access controls, encryption of data in transit, secure hosting, staff training and confidentiality obligations imposed on our team and service providers.

10. Your rights under POPIA

You have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

• Right of access: to request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you and to obtain a description of that information.
• Right to correction or deletion: to request that we correct information that is inaccurate, or delete information that is no longer required for a lawful purpose.
• Right to object: to object, on reasonable grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal information.
• Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on your consent, to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
• Right to complain: to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your rights have been infringed.

11. Cookies and website analytics

This website uses two analytics tools to help us understand how visitors interact with the site and to improve the visitor experience:

• Google Analytics (GA4), provided by Google. Collects information such as pages visited, time on page, referring source and general geographic region. IP addresses are anonymised.
• PostHog, provided by PostHog Inc. and hosted in the European Union. Collects product analytics and session recordings covering pages visited, clicks and navigation paths. We have configured PostHog not to store visitor IP addresses, and all form input fields are masked in session recordings, so the contents of anything you type into our forms are never captured.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share analytics data for advertising purposes.

Analytics cookies are only set once you provide consent via the cookie banner that appears on your first visit. If you decline, neither tool is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. You may change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site or by contacting us directly.

In addition, we use one small item of local storage (afsq-consent-v1) to remember your cookie preference, and Cloudflare Turnstile on our contact forms to protect against automated abuse. Turnstile does not use tracking cookies.
